Leo, born in Slatiga (Dutch East Indies )in 1884, died in The Hague in 1952. Lived and worked in the Dutch East Indies, America, Morocco Amsterdam until 1936. Well known painter of Indian landscapes. Less is known about his alpine landscapes. Probably Leo Eland was charmed by the vastness and silence of the mountains. A contrast to India in terms of climate, with the stillness he loved.
