Over G. (GEERT) GRAUSS

Gerardus Hendrik (Geert) Grauss was a Dutch painter, draftsman and lithographer. Grauss studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He made study trips to the Mediterranean, including Italy (Capri) and Algiers. Grauss mainly drew and painted figures, often nudes, but he also made genre works and floral still lifes. He also worked as an illustrator and made posters and glass paintings (he worked for some time in Bouvy's stained glass studio in Dordrecht). He was a member of Arti et Amicitiae and Artists Association Sint Lucas in Amsterdam. In 1917 he won the Willink van Collen Prize. During the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, he took part in the art competition. A year later he died in The Hague, aged 47.
