Frans Arnold Breuhaus de Groot lived and worked mainly in The Hague, Amsterdam and Brussels. He was a pupil of his father F. Breuhaus de Groot and received his formal education at the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. Frans Arnold mainly painted seascapes and river views. He also etched and lithographed. In 1847, he joined the Royal Academy in Amsterdam. Several museums own works by his hand including Het Nederlands Scheepvaartmuseum Amsterdam, Het Rijksmuseum, Museum Boymans van Beuningen Rotterdam.
